Service Description

Course Duration 2 Days (12 hours) Course overview The Paediatric First Aid course is designed to train individuals to provide immediate first aid care for infants and children. This course also includes adult essential skills in basic life support as they differ from the skills of the infant and child. This course meets the first aid requirements of Ofsted for the Early Years Foundation Stage standards, the National Childminding Association, the Pre-School Learning Alliance, and the Department for Children, Schools and Families Surestart guidelines for paediatric first aid. Who should attend? This course is for people working with younger children – those up to eight years old – or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education. Course contents A low-stress easy learning classroom environment Many confidence building opportunities Multiple hands-on practice sessions Comprehensive printed student materials Instructor guide and lesson plans Professional instructor training courses Student materials include: Essential skills guide Successful completion card Emergency plan & guidance card Wall certificate Course Evaluation and Statement of Understanding Form Hands-on skill practice Students will practice the essential skills in small groups and will apply these skills in scenario sessions during the course. Students are assessed throughout the course by instructor observation of the essential skills. There is also a summative assessment of knowledge and skills at the end of this course.
